Microsoft SharePoint Designer 2007 is Microsoft's newest web design
application, replacing Microsoft FrontPage. This four-level course
explores many of SharePoint Designer's exciting features. Whether
you're using SharePoint Designer for the first time, or have been
using FrontPage for years, this course will help you make the most
of SharePoint Designer 2007.
Highlights of the course include a discussion of Dynamic Web
Templates, a crash course in web design, and a thorough look at
SharePoint Server contributor settings.
Detailed Course Outline
Getting Started
To begin, participants will learn the
basics of SharePoint Designer: how to
open and close it, how to use the
interface, how to create a basic web
site (including design tips), how to
save and open web sites, and how to get
help.
Creating a Basic Page
Next, participants will create a basic
Web page with text, hyperlinks, photos,
files, buttons, and form controls.
Creating Sites and Advanced Pages
This section will focus on creating,
navigating, modifying, and opening a web
site; modifying site pages; modifying
page properties; and using folders.
Doing More with Text
Participants will learn how to use
editing tools; change the font face,
size, and color; use the Format Painter;
and add borders and shading.
Participants will also learn how to
check spelling, add ClipArt, and use
layers.
Printing and Viewing Your Site
This section will cover window
management and how to set a site up to
be printed.
Advanced File Tasks
Participants will learn how to use My
Computer within SharePoint Designer,
various ways to save their files
(including importing and exporting
tasks), and how to use dynamic web
templates.
An HTML Primer
Participants will learn basic
conventions of HTML, how to use Code
View, how to use the Tag Properties
window, and how to use pre-defined tags.
Beyond Text
This section will focus on adding and
formatting graphics.
Hyperlinks and Hotspots
Participants will learn how to create
hyperlinks and hotspots. We will also
take a brief look at publishing a site.
Creating a Consistent Web Site
Participants will learn how to use
master pages, text styles, and Cascading
Style Sheets (CSS) to create a
professional, consistent web site.
Working with Tables
This section will show participants how
tables can help lay out a web page.
Site Navigation and Data Sources
Participants will learn how to add link
bars, quick launch bars, and data
sources to their site.
Advanced Components
This section will look at SharePoint Web
Components, ASP.NET components,
SharePoint Web Zones, and interactive
buttons.
Forms, Scripts, and Frames
Participants will learn how forms,
client side scripts, and frames can
enhance their Web site.
Expert Topics
Participants will learn how to use
behaviors, data views, and data forms in
this section.
Working with SharePoint
This section will explore how to use
SharePoint Designer with SharePoint
Server, including how to use SharePoint
templates and controls, how to set
contributor settings, and how to publish
a site to a SharePoint server.
Inside SharePoint Designer
To conclude the course, participants
will learn how to customize SharePoint
